High-Scoring Affair Continues Between Two European Giants
Manchester City defeated Real Madrid 3-2 in a thrilling Champions League quarterfinal second leg on Wednesday, advancing to the semifinals with a 6-5 aggregate victory.
The match was yet another high-scoring affair between the two sides, with 23 goals flying into the back of the net in their last five contests. City took an early lead through Kevin De Bruyne, but Real Madrid fought back with goals from Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.
Phil Foden equalized for City in the second half, and Bernardo Silva scored the winning goal in the 74th minute. Real Madrid pushed for an equalizer, but City held on to secure the victory and advance to the semifinals.
City will now face either Chelsea or Porto in the semifinals, with the first leg to be played on April 27th.
The Citizens are now one step closer to winning back-to-back trebles, having already won the Premier League and Carabao Cup this season. They will also be looking to add the Champions League to their trophy cabinet for the first time since 2018.
